Thanks for Taking a Look

These are preschool pieces. When broken down into smaller sections, the magic of the mingling colors truly shines.  Adding the glassy surface that hardened wax creates is a wonderful juxtaposition to the textured brush strokes underneath.

Many kids focus entirely on main characters. While keeping these masterworks the 'main event,' I add color, marks and nuances to create playful backgrounds.

It is so satisfying to include a narrative in the art about the child behind it.  To me, it is like a journal entry that comes alive when text and imagery are paired.

These are scraps of art, writing, doodles and thoughts from two siblings, combined onto two canvases and floated in a frame. I think of these as time capsules that you don't want to bury.

I work with schools to create pieces that whole classes have contributed to.  Each fish in the 28 x 30 inch board was individually constructed by students in a 3's preschool class.
